How to Install ENS via ePO

Step 1 - Ensure ENS Package is checked in

The module version used for installation should belong to the same release, please refer to this KBA that explains what module versions belongs to what release of ENS.

For example: Please do not deploy ENS Common module from July 2020 update and Threat Prevention module from ENS December 2021 update. This is considered incompatible

There are 2 ways to check in the Package

(1) Via Software Catalog

      (i)  On ePO navigate to Menu > Software Catalog

     (ii)  Expand Endpoint Security > Check-in McAfee Endpoint Security Enterprise Bundle

     (iii) You may track the progress in Server Task Log

(2) Download and Check-in the Package Manually.

     (2.1) Check-in Extensions

               (i) On ePO. Click on Menu > Extensions

              (ii) Click on Install Extension & choose the extension (.zip) file

              (iii) Repeat the steps to install all extensions one by one 

     (2.2) Check-in Client Packages one at a time (Menu > Main/Master Repository)

             (i) On ePO. Click on Menu > Master/Main Repository

            (ii) Click on Check-In Package on the next page

            (iii) Package type is Product or Update (.zip)

            (iv) Click on Choose File & select the client packages (.zip) file

            (v) Select the branch on the next screen & next to complete the Check-In Process

Step 2 - Create a Client Task to Deploy ENS

(1) Create Client Task

       (i)  On ePO. Click on Menu > Client Task Catalog

      (ii) Under Client Task Types. Expand McAfee Agent & select Product Deployment

      (iii) Click New Task on the top. A pop-up appears and task type is Product Deployment. Click Ok.

      (iv) Assign a Task Name

      (v)  Target Platform is Windows

      (vi) Under Product & Components, we can select the ENS modules that needs to be installed

  •              ENS Threat Prevention
  •              ENS Adaptive Threat Protection
  •              ENS WebControl
  •              ENS Firewall

     (vii) Hit Save when done.

(2) Assign the Client Task to a Group /System

     (i)   Click on the System where the task needs to be assigned.

     (ii)  Choose Actions > Agent > Edit Tasks on a Single System

     (iii) Click New Task Assignment on the bottom of the next screen

     (iv) Select McAfee Agent > Product Deployment & the name of the task created in Step (i)

     (v)  Set the Schedule Type to Run Immediately

     (vi) Send a Wake-Up agent to the Client

(3) Reboot the system after successful install
