This message is triggered by MA 4.0 but it's not an error because if you have a look to your DAT file you must see it's up-to-date.
That's because it tries to update anything on your computer (not only VSE engine) but if it cannot locate other products its says t won't update because it cannot find them.
ok but it's not clean for users!
You're right, it's not clean at all.
A lot of customers had asked for this message because they were thinking their VSE 8.7 were not updating...
I'm getting this error on one out of four computers, and the update does not finish. The date for the signature files is still back in 2008.

Just for the record, what has happened after 8.5 that everything got so fragile? v8.0 uses to be a workhorse, 8.7 has made me waste an enormous amount of time!
I had the same error but unlike the knowledgebase the DAT is NOT up to date. Last update was from june, 9th. :(

I did solve the problem by updating the agent version 4.0 patch 2 (MA400HF481806WIN.zip). Installed was McAfee Agent 4.0 patch 1.
This was a stand alone system. The update is from the McAfee repository http://update.nai.com/products/commonupdater2.
The system does update now.
I am getting the same. All repositories are the same but is only happening on a few machines.
my agents are all 188.8.131.520.
