Yes it can but it isn't an infection, just a nuisance: Adware-BrowseFox | Virus Profile & Definition | McAfee Inc.
This must have been a new variant. Using GetSusp would probably have added it to the database
There must be a *New Variant* please run the McAfee Getsusp tool to add it to the McAfee Global Threat Intelligence Base. Enter your email address under 'preferences' in the Getsusp UI before scanning.
It can be obtained HERE;Anti-Spyware/Malware & Hijacker Tools
This is not the correct answer. I'm paying for a total! I'll repeat it again a total internet and virus security software yet the only answer McAfee has is to refer people to third party software and this has been going on for a very long time!? What is the McAfee definition of total? as it doesn't seem to agree with the dictionary definition:
constituting or comprising the whole; entire; whole:
the total expenditure.
of or relating to the whole of something:
the total effect of a play.
complete in extent or degree; absolute; unqualified; utter:
a total failure.
involving all aspects, elements, participants, resources, etc.; unqualified; all-out:
the total amount; sum; aggregate:
a total of $200.
the whole; an entirety:
the impressive total of Mozart's achievement.
verb (used with object), totaled, totaling or (especially British) totalled, totalling.
to bring to a total; add up.
to reach a total of; amount to.
Slang. to wreck or demolish completely:
He totaled his new car in the accident.
verb (used without object), totaled, totaling or (especially British) totalled, totalling.
to amount (often followed by to).
Now if I'm paying for total security as described by the dictionary when are you going to provide it? or is your discription of your software going to me amended to almost? All the rubbish about updates forget it! I want what I'm paying for not to have to waste my time doing things I'm paying you for.
Evidently you inadvertently marked this thread as 'Correctly Answered', as I certainly did not. Please read the following;

I never touched this as I had only just joined and know it's an incorrect answer and that the answered status should be removed as soon as possible. I'm paying for a total service I'm not getting it and it's about time people paying for McAfee total coverage start to complain when the reference is to alternate software.
The *Answered Status* (Has) been removed. How it got marked as such is beyond me. Please follow my suggestions to contact Support. This back and forth is counter-productive, to be quite honest. I am here to assist you in the best way possible.
As I do for hundreds of others on a daily basis.
I would suggest that then the correct answer status is removed as it is not the correct answer. It's very simple I'm guessing for a moderator to come in and give a answer that kills discussion! But that doesn't solve the question of I'm paying for a total coverage peace of software that doesn't provide total coverage and refers me to another software provider to solve or clear a problem.
This post should be left unanswered until the software I'm paying for that supposedly provides total coverage actually provides total coverage.
It appears to be removed to me.
