I am guessing someone has configured the IP address on the sensor and correct gateway right?
Can you ping it?
What's the sensor model? - SSH settings change depending on model
Do you have console access to it?

You can find the correct settings for connecting to the console port of your model of sensor in the "sensor product guide", just search on support.mccafee.com for one for your model.
Are you using the cable supplied by mcafee? IF not make sure you have one with the correct pin layout.

Also you may need to connect the cable to your computer and then reboot the device to get a good connection.
Were you able to connect to the sensor using the console port?
