    Moving an ePO 4 database

    Quitch
I want to migrate an ePO 4 database from an MS SQL 2000 server to an MS SQL 2005 server. The only guide I was able to find was this:

      https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=answerlink&url=https%3A%2F%2Fkc.mcafe e.com%3A443%2Fcorporate%2Findex%3Fpage%3Dcontent%26id%3DKB51438%26actp%3Dsearch& answerid=16777220&searchid=1228302788449

However, this requires the retirement of the previous server, and that's not an acceptable solution. As that's a DR document I presume there is a better way when migrating an online database, but I have been unable to find it either in documentation or knowledgebase, apart from one which refers only to ePO 3.6.x

A search turned up a link on this forum, but the link was from April and is now broken.

      Can anyone assist?
        • 1. ePO DB migration
          Hi

          The story is simple :
          1. Stop ePO services
          2. Backup you ePO db to file, using standard SQL interface.
          3. Restore database from backup file in new SQL server.
          4. Create SQL login (standard or windows) and give him "dbo" rights to ePO db.
          5. Detach the ePO db on the old SQL server.
          6. Start the ePO services.
          7. Navigate in browser to https://servername:8443/core/config (maybe your port is different)
          8. Enter new server connection information, "Test connection" and "Apply"
          9. Restart the ePO services.

          Good Luck

          Alex
