    100% Disk Use on scheduled scan even on Low System Utilization - VirusScan Enterprise 8.8


      What can I do stop McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.8 Full Scan from being so intrusive on my work?

      Disabling or rescheduling the the Full Scans is not possible due to IT policy.


      McAfee scheduled virus scans (Full Scan) use 100% of my disk usage for over 4 hours (500GB of data/software/OS on laptop). McAfee freezes up any other software attempting to write/read to the hard-disk and makes my laptop unusable.

      I have tried reducing the System Utilization to Low without any noticeable improvement. FYI: Recently, we were also required to run Bitdefender but McAfee caused the 100% disk usage problem before (then, I was not required scheduled Full Scans and I just disabled them).

      I am considering disabling scanning inside archives but that would defeat the scan's purpose.


      Dell Precision M8400, i7-4610 @ 3GHz, 16 GB RAM,  1TB SATA HD, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
