Instead of upgrading 184.108.40.2064 to 220.127.116.118 we will go straight to McAfee Agent 18.104.22.1680.
We have 80 clients on 4.0, no issues so far. Will upgrade the rest (~2000) on Friday.
Let me know how the upgrade to Agent 4.0 goes. Several people on this forum recommended that we wait until we move to EPO 4.0 before using the 4.0 agent. Not too sure why people were saying this. We plan on staying with EPO 3.6.1 until next year.
We on ePO 3.6.1 too. I see no reason why Agent 4.0 cannot be implemented before upgrade to ePO 4.
My plan is to go to ePO 4.0 in next 2-3 months.
We're now on Agent 4.0. No problems so far.
Before you deploy McAfee Agent 4.0 you should be aware of 2 issues:
616049 Extra.DAT is not installed when deployed using ePO 3.6.1 Patch 3 via McAfee Agent 4.0
fixed by ePO 361 Patch 4
616674 McAfee Agent stops communicating with the ePO server after successful deployment
We have Agent 4.0 on 12,000+ machines. No reported problems. Seems to be a lot more reliable with regards to updating...
Thanks for all your inputs. I have decided to stay with the 22.214.171.1248 engine and have started deploying it out to our 1500 systems. We will go to the new EPO 4.0 agent as soon as we feel brave enough to upgrade to EPO 4.0.
I did 126.96.36.1998 after hitting a lot of errors with 574 and it seems pretty good, and I managed to slide it past change control as not a major version release aswell.
I have noticed that some systems, about 15 so far, won't install the new Agent. I visited one of the systems and tried to manually install the framepkg.exe. This gave an error message "the required file regsvr32.exe is missing".
I did a search of the windows\system32 folder and could not find this file. McAfee suggests that you copy this windows file from a working XP system. This we did and then agent then updated.
Not too sure why some systems have the regsvr32.exe missing. Has anyone encountered this problem?
Can anyone explain why.......
I added Agent 4.0 to EPO 3.6.1 Repository.
It was successfully added and 'was' showing in Repository - Managed Products - Windows - ePO Agent. It has now, however, disappeared from here although it is still listed in the Software Repository - Master.
Trying to reinstall doesn't work as 'it's already installed!'
