Did you try cmdagent.exe /remove=agent ?
I'm sorry, I didn't realize I pasted the wrong thing. To uninstall, the script I used was...
"C:\Program Files\Mcafee\Agent\x86\frminst.exe" /forceuninstall
I tried what you mentioned, but get...
C:\Program Files\McAfee\Agent>cmdagent /remove=agent
usage: cmdagent [options]
where options are:
-c: checks for new policies
-e: enforce policies locally
-p: collect and send properties
-f: send events
-s: displays the agent monitor UI
-i: displays agent info
-l: set logfile location
-h: displays help
e.g. cmdagent -p
cmdagent -p -l "E:\DirectoryName"
Sorry, meant frminst,exe with /remove=agent
Tried frminst.exe /remove=agent and get the same errors as above.
Thanks for the help everyone!
What I did was Install an offline/standalone VSE setup, then tried installing Agent over Agent and they both worked. I uninstalled VSE, and ran the (correct) uninstall script for Agent and it worked.
Deployed Agent and all seems happy for now.
Do you have a copy of this KB87834 ?
I'm in the situation where I get the exact same issue as the OP but also cannot install VSE8.8 as it rolls back.
So the agent is left on the machine and I cannot install over the top or remove using the usual methods.
Last attempt is to manually remove but as you point out the KB article is no longer up.
I'm assuming there is more than 8 steps......
All I have is a screen capture that I took of that KB article. It seems McAfee removed this KB article so can't verify if it has more steps or not. If my memory serves me right, it only has these 8 steps as I would have taken another screen capture. It makes me suspicious that McAfee removed it, maybe it has some mistakes in it. Have not personally tried these steps so don't know if it will help or not.
