Anything in your Windows Event Logs that might shed some light on the issue?
The only issue in the event log is shown below.
The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> [Thu Jul 24 11:56:43 2008] [notice] Disabled use of AcceptEx() WinSock2 API
Any one have any idea's ??
How many events does the log report for the last day ?
I've just got the same problem with exactly the same configuration and the same event on the Windows Application Log. Also the log just reports this after each startup. It looks like an issue with the Apache server trying to startup. Several minutes (sometimes hours) later I stop to receive notifications, etc!!
The folder \Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\DB\Events is with PKG files since the time of the event Log error, as if no PKG after that has been processed.
After I restart the services, it goes slowly processing the PKG files, until it hangs again.
If a local virusscanner is installed exclude the EVENT directory from scanning.
Already done that !! grin Issue keeps. Also there are some (10~15) EVT files that dont go away.
if you have IIS check the agent to server comm port ePO is using, if it is 80, which is same as IIS, then probably thats the cause of your frequent apache stopage.
If not, run
netstat -anb > c:\log.txt
after apache suddenly stops, and compare it with your ePO ports settings, if something else is taking over the port, that would cause services to stop.
search KB for port change doc if the above is true
nothing in there.
