DETech on corrupted McAfee boot screen

While trying to get a new DE theme to apply I deleted some of the contents of the theme folder thinking that on a reapplication of the of policies etc that the theme folder would be repopulated. Not so... Now when it tries to boot it fails complaining that it can't display error messages.

I have created a bootable USB using the DETech tool but when I boot into that it claims that it can't see a valid encrypted drive, even though if I choose the options the drive is listed in there. Once in the DETech tool I can't set a boot disk as none show up.

Does anyone know why this might be happening and how I can potentially resolve it?
