    Announcing McAfee 5900 Engine Beta

      The Beta of the McAfee Anti-Malware Engine version 5900 is now available at:

      The 5900 Anti-Malware Engine is a yearly engine release that will succeed the current 5800 Engine and includes the following improvements:

       

      Detection and Performance enhancements:

       

      •  Enhanced support of JavaScript malware detection

      •  Enhancements to DAT content to improve predictability of content processing

      •  A new high-performance executable packer (MPRESS) to decompress executables

      •  Dotfuscator .NET obfuscation functionality for string obfuscation

      •  Improved support of OLE file format Platform enhancements

       

      New supported platforms:

       

      • Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Windows Server 2016

      • End of Life (EOL) platforms: HP-UX 11i v1, HP-UX 11i v2

       

      System requirements disk space and memory:

       

      • At least 512 MB of free hard disk space

      • At least an additional 512 MB of free hard disk space reserved for temporary files

      • At least 512 MB of RAM for scanning operations (1024 MB recommended)

      • At least 1024 MB of RAM for updating operations

       

      Planned Release Schedule

       

      The current Release Schedule for the 5900 Engine is:

      • Release Candidate (RC) in Q4 2016

      • RTW (Elective download) in Q4 2016

      • RTW (Auto Update) in Q1 2017

       

      NOTE: Detailed dates will be provided in upcoming 5900 Engine announcements.

      VirusScan Command with the 5900 Engine is expected to be available in a few weeks.
