      Hello community!

      My Server:

      Windows 2012 R2

      EPO 5.3.0

      Solidcore 5.1.2.8200

      My Client:

      Windows NT 4.0 WS SP6a

      EPO Agent 3.6.0.627

According to https://kc.mcafee.com/resources/sites/MCAFEE/content/live/PRODUCT_DOCUMENTATION/ 23000/PD23519/en_US/mfe_solidcore_5_1_2_…  it should be possible to install Solidcore on my client machine.

However the installation of Solidcore 5.1.2.8200 via task fails with following error message:

      #178    Script    Verifying mapkg_install.mcs.

#192    Script    Error occurred while installing SOLIDCOR5000_WIN.

Please have a look at the full log:

          forusim,

To troubleshoot your original issue are there any Solidcore installation log files under %WINDIR%\TEMP that might provide some insight into the failure? Also I've never used MA 3.6.0, but is there a `McScript.log` under %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Network Associates\Common Framework which might also provide you details of the failure?

As a side bar did you review the minimum supported product version for ePO 5.3 (KB82836)? Even if you were able to install Solidcore 5.x on the remote node the article suggest you wouldn't be able to install a valid extension within your current ePO to manage it. Happy to be proven wrong.

          HTH,

            Hello

Unfortunatelly there are no logs in %TEMP%.

            Thank you for link.

Regarding to McAfee KnowledgeBase - Common Management Agent 3.6.0 for Application and Change Control Known Issues  the EPO version 5.1.1 would be a valid environment.

However this McAfee KnowledgeBase - ePolicy Orchestrator 5.1 supported products tells a different story.

Also the installation of Solidcore 5.1.2.8200 on my EPO 5.3 server was successfull.

Thats why I thought, those minimal versions are more political limitations (force to upgrade the infrastructure) than technical.

Maybe someone has a reliable source of real compatibility between products?

            Thanks in advance.

I've had similar conflicting information on valid environments from the support portal.

Just a dumb question, have you tried to install Solidifier locally? When I tried to install locally the installation logs would be in the %TEMP% folder until the installer closes out. After which the temp files would automatically be deleted. I usually grab the files before closing/finishing the installer.

Also want to note that I had a similar instance where I had resolved it by removing all traces of Solidifier keys/folders/files. There was a C:\Solidcore folder that it hung up on and wouldn't complete/start the install for whatever reason.

                Hello cvg-park,

no I have not tried it, since the clients should be managed from EPO-Server.

I think the error lies in the combination of EPO 5.3 and Agent 3.6.

However I had no resources to set up an EPO 5.1 and try to deploy Solidcore yet.

I have looked into the McAfee directory and the Solidcore installer have not been even downloaded from the EPO server.

So the problem imho lies in the mapkg_install.mcs, which I cant open.

Still looking for reliable info on real compatibility of my setup.

                  Update:

I have set up an EPO 5.1.3 server, which I downloaded from my EPO 5.3 Software-Manager.

First I have deployed the EPO-Agent 3.6.0.627 on the NT4 machine successfully, nothing new here.

Then I tried to deploy the Solidcore 5.1.2.8200 and it failed with the same error and same log output.

So can somebody tell me how to read this McAfee KnowledgeBase - Common Management Agent 3.6.0 for Application and Change Control Known Issues ?

Beside that I am using EPO server 5.1.3 instead of 5.1.1 (not available) my setup should be ok?

                  • 6. Re: Error occurred while installing SOLIDCOR5000_WIN
                    forusim

I have found the source of my issue.

It looks like the EPO Agent 3.6 cannot deploy packages from branches other than "Current".

In my case I have Solidcore 6.2 in "Current" and Solidcore 5.1.2 in "Previous" branches.

So when I tried to deploy Solidcore from "Previous" branch to the NT4 machine, actually it pulled the "Current" package.

Since both versions have same "SOLIDCOR5000_WIN" ID it fails with the above error message, because Solidcore 6.2 is not supported by NT4.

                    So the only solution seems:

Check Solidcore 5.1.2 into "Current" branch to be deployed via Agent 3.6

Check Solidcore 6.2.0 into "Previous" branch to be deployed via Agent 5.X

Pretty poor and inflexible package management from McAfee.

I thought that was one of the latest greatest features when Agent 4.X rolled out; no longer bound to "If installing on a computer running Common Management Agent 3.6, the package must be checked in to the Current repository branch." - which is listed in the old docs and not necessarily very prevalent in any of the NEW docs since 3.6 EOL was 12/15. Doesn't really help anyone who is govern by policy or regulation to stay on 3.6 - would have been nice for McAfee to at least mention it via a "*" see below clause....
