    ePO: non-McAfee software information

    watanabet

      Greetigns,

      Dear all.

      I want to get client system information by ePO.

      I can see "system properties", "Product", "Threat Events" and other McAfee product tabs by clicking client system name from system tree.

      However, I cannot see non-McAfee software information that is on the client system.

      Are there ways to get OEM software version inforamation by ePO?

      I found "custom 1-4" columns in Computer Properties.

      If writing a string to somewhere of system infomation from OEM software, Is it possible to display in these "custom 1-4" columns?

      Thank You and Best Regards,

          you can store anything you what in the custom property 1-4. The how is covered in the mcafee agent product guide.

          But I don't really think it would be your best bet for a software inventory.

            Greetings,

            Dear Andrep1-san.

            Thank you for helping.

            I checked McAfee Agent Product Guide, Custom property 1-4 can be stored only a string that I specified when MA installation, right?

            I want to dynamically link from OEM software version information to ePO side.

            Do you have another good way ?

            Thank You and Best Regards,

              Hi Watanabet.

              The values can be updated dynamically at run time. Here's a sample vbs code used to update the properties.

              sub MA5x
              objReg.GetStringValue HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, "SOFTWARE\McAfee\Agent", "InstallRoot", strValue

              strExecName = chr(34) & strValue & "maconfig.exe" & chr(34)
              strExecParams = " -custom " & "-prop1 " & chr(34) & strProp1 & chr(34) & " -prop2 " & chr(34) & strProp2 & chr(34) & " -prop3 " & chr(34) & strProp3 & chr(34) & " -prop4 " & chr(34) & strProp4 & chr(34)

              Set objShell = WScript.CreateObject( "WScript.Shell" )

              objShell.run(strExecName&strExecParams),0,true
              end sub

              Hope this helps.

              Andre
