I would also like to test Agent 4.0 but am unsure of the path I should follow. This may be an obvious question but if I check-in the Agent 4.0 NAP, will my 3.6x agents be able to read this?
The best way to test, it's in a testing isolated from production environment.
If this is not possible, I suggest:
1. Be sure to disable all Agent Task deployment in ePO console (IMPORTANT !!!)
2. Check-in MA 4.0.0 in your repository (it is not possible to choose the branch, this will upgrade your current agent)
3. Only distribute the agent in some testing machines before distributing to all other
Good tests... happy
Sorry, just to clarify, do you know if my existing 3.6x agents will be able to read the MA 4.0 policies?
In ePO 4.0.0 Patch 1 Server work's fine with agent's 3.6.x.
In ePO 3.6.x Server I don't know. I haven't tried that... :(
Now my problem is that I'm unable to upgrade then... I started a new thread about that.
Thanks for your reply.
I have logged a call with McAfee - will let you know the outcome.
For testing I just manually installed the 4.0 agent to machines within my epo 3.6.1 setup and they worked just fine, still comm back with epo 3.6.1.
Thanks - I didnt think about the manual installation. I'll try it on a few machines and see how it goes.
