I havnt been able to find any documentation on this since the agent was released. Why not a log a call with Mcafee and then you can share your findings with the rest of us.
I did, I called them yesterday at the end of my work day to start a ticket.
The support rep said THEY didnt even have any documentation on the MSI. I asked how could McAfee possibly release a product/function that is UNSUPPORTABLE
The rep is escelating it to second level and they are calling me back at 930AM CST today.
I will post any findings.... happy
The internal McAfee Agent 4 installation code is MSI based but that doesn't mean you have to use Msiexec or other pure MSI based installation methods. In fact, that's probably not even supported as the setup wrapper probably does other things before executing the MSI file and maybe passes some parameters too.
The silent install options are documented in the readme.htm and from memory it's simply FramePkg.exe /silent
Did you get any further with McAfee?
I'm moving from EPO 3.6 to 4.0 and would like to deploy the new framepkg through an msi.
I called McAfee just now to inquire about the same issue, and she pointed me to KB article 615764 (which basically says that it doesn't work and is only being considered for future releases) and told me that the only chance it has of being a feature is if enough people call in to request it and log case numbers in the process.
So, all of you who'd like to see a GPO-deployable agent in the near future, I'd suggest callin' in and saying so.
Good idea. I submitted a request.
I submitted a request as well.
Stickying this thread for while to get some more people to request this
