    Mer for ePO 2.5.6.0 Scan tasks keep failing

    dsanches

      Hi guys,

      I´m trying to use Mer for ePO on my environment, but I´m seeing a really strange behavior.

      When I send the scan task to a device where has a user without administrative privileges logged in, the tasks fails with the following output:

      06/17/2016 09:05:25
      Task Option m_prodListName_ = {(null)}
      06/17/2016 09:05:25Getting FTP Upload Path :  ftp://
      06/17/2016 09:05:26Failed to generate the event.
      06/17/2016 09:05:26CEpoInterfacingLayer::EnforceTask : [*Failed to start the task.*]

      But If I run on my device or any other administrator device, its working as intended:

      06/17/2016 09:54:02
      Task Option m_prodListName_ = {}

      Anyone knows why this is happening? I thought this task was supposed to run on the same level as McAfee Agent Runs.

      Environment:

      ePO 5.3.1

          I got the same issue, but it does not matter if im logged on as a admin or not.

          I saw that it worked once after i did the install but instead of placing the .tgz under the path i had under the policy it placed it under C:\Windows\Temp

          I tried it on a Windows 7 x64 and a Windows 10 x64

          The log im getting this from is under C:\Windows\Temp\mer_for_epo.log

                  So what was the outcome of your SR?

                    Hey digger86,  I was out of town for a couple days attending a funeral and McAfee Support closed the ticket, lol.   I just recently opened up another one for this same issue and they're chewing on it again.  No response yet, but I know it's been escalated up to "higher tiers".   Will update soon I hope.

                      Update:

                      My SR turned into a 3+ month long engagement working with McAfee to test out various fixes and alpha MER releases.  They had several groups of folks working on it and have just recently released an entirely new version,  3.0.0.

                      So you may want to go to support.mcafee.com and check out the announcements.  They have links to various KBs, a Walkthrough Guide and YouTube video, etc.

                      The new 3.0.0 version should fix up your issues mentioned above.
