    scanmal.dll could not be installed or loaded

      We have ePO pushing 8.5 as an upgrade to 8.0. Users are getting the message below when starting Outlook.
      (C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Virus Scan\scanemal.dll). Could not be installed or loaded. This problem may be resolved by using Detect and Repair on the help menu.

      However, Detect and Repair doesn't help. What setting in ePO needs to be adjusted to globally correct\prevent this error?

      I found a few dead links on the forum, but nothing recent.

      We're using ePO 4.0.

        • 1. RE: scanmal.dll could not be installed or loaded
          Outlook caches registry info on plug-ins in a file named extend.dat. The path was changed in 8.5 to "C:\Program Files\McAfee\VirusScan Enterprise\Scanotlk.dll" and extend.dat is out of sync with the registry settings. You can delete extend.dat and Outlook will recreate it the next time it starts. I just added this to our GPO login script for the duration of our roll-out:

          cd %UserProfile%\LocalS~1\Applic~1\Micros~1\Outlook\
          del extend.dat
