Ruling out any Malware, Did you personally install it yourself, or did it come 'Pre-Installed' ? Are you current and up to date with all of your Windows Updates/Add-ons. To include Internet Explorer even if you choose not to use it. McAfee and other important programs do in order to function properly.
Have you attempted to (Right Click) on your McAfee Icon, and select 'Verify Subscription'? You can also run the McAfee Virtual Technician to see if you have any issues, and it will attempt to resolve them. http://mvt.mcafee.com
(Note) A restart may be required to complete the process, should anything untoward be found.
If you still need further assistance, you can contact Technical Support (Free) using that same link I inserted. Via Online Chat/Phone being the quickest.

Thank you for the quick response,
My subscription is current and up to date, I reinstalled a new copy of Mcafee Internet Security b/c it kept requesting to turn real time scanning on but would immediately turn off after turning it on. So I reinstalled it. That fixed that problem but now I can't get it to open the Security Center via right clicking. Now, right clicking displays the menu but selecting anything in the menu results in nothing happening. Even clicking the app on the main screen results in nothing.
When you initially Uninstalled/Reinstalled your McAfee Software. After removing the prior version from the Control Panel/Programs and Features/Restart. Did you utilize the MCPR Tool afterwards/Restart.? Then proceed to your account to Reinstall.
In addition make certain there are no other prior existing Security Software existing which could cause issues as well, and cause your McAfee Software to not function properly. Try running the McAfee Virtual Technician as suggested in my initial post http://mvt.mcafee.com If there are issues that cannot be repaired, then you can contact Technical Support which is (Free) at no cost to you 24/7.
They can assist you in Uninstalling/Reinstalling your current subscription, to resolve your issues.
Again please inform us of your results.
All the very Best,
When you right-click the taskbar icon and select Change Settings > View All Settings - does that work?
I personally had a similar problem in Windows 7 with LiveSafe.
The developers are aware of it as I made it a major issue in our weekly conference call.
If that works for you then it is the same problem.
In fact the software will eventually open when you try the other way, but takes ages to do so.
You're welcome. I still have the issue but not so bad as before since an uninstall/reinstall + some software updates.
Thank you all for the quick responses and suggestions.
I managed to get the program to respond and open the Security Center main window and do a complete scan of the PC. I took your advice and ran the Virtual Assistant which stated it corrected a problem. After restarting the PC I still could not get the SC to open (by right clicking). So I uninstalled Microsoft Office 365 which had expired its trial offer, restarted the PC and lo and behold, my SC came to life almost immediately and I was able to run a scan. Not sure if that was really the main root of the problem but it seemed to have worked. I didn't want MS Office 365 anyway and just thought I'd get rid of it as I have MS Office 2007 which does me well enough for what I need.
Thanks to all! You've been a great help!
