    Dat version 1111

      Hello everyone,

       

      We are in phase of migrating CA av to McAfee AV across 10000+ clients in our organization. Around 5000 clients have been migrated, Morethan 100 hosts are not getting latest dat. it showing 1111.

       

      And i tried to update but it does not works out

          DAT 1111 is a stud DAT, which is used in a DAT-less deployment of VSE. This reduces the size of the VSE Deployment package by around 60MB by not including the signature DAT.

           

          Normally this indicates that the client has not run its first update, or you have some outstanding Hotfixes to apply.

           

          Could you confirm which version of VSE your running and which hotfixes have been applied.

            We are using VSE 8.8 patch 6 and as of now we don't have any hot fix to apply

              I have found that if you create a client update task and select the DAT file and McAfee signatures, apply it to these problem machines and it will force them to check for DAT updates, I have our environment checking at 10am.

                Hi,

                 

                bryce.cairns is correct, although VSE does have a default Task which runs at 17:00 daily, but you can disable the defualt AutoUpdate Task using policy and create your own McAfee Agent Update Task which can be assigned to different locations in your system tree.

                These client Tasks can also have randomisation configured, so for different parts of your system tree you can update your clients at different time.

                 

                Also one to mention, don't forget to configure your Master Repository Pull task to pull the updated DAT file from McAfee daily.

                  Hi Richard,

                   

                  Thanks for detailed info,

                   

                  Already we have the client tasks to update the daily DAT while system startup(Delay with 15mins) and every 8 hours as scheduled.

                  Still We have few machines with 1111 dat and they not getting update, even i tried from affected clients too, And there is no action when I giving update security from Tray icon.

                   

                  In this case, After reinstalling VSE few machines are able to get latest DAT.It would be helpful if it is any way to fix this issue without reinstalling VSE.

                    Could you please confirm if the client does not get the task, if the task does not run, or if the task fails.

                     

                    Check if the client Task has been deployed to the client by checkin gif an ini file has been created for the Task in C:\ProgramData\McAfee\Common Framework\Task

                     

                    Check if the Task has run:

                    Check the corresponding ini file in C:\ProgramData\McAfee\Common Framework\Task\TaskInternalData for LastRunTime

                     

                    Check for errors during task:

                    Check in Agent_<machinename>.log in C:\ProgramData\McAfee\Common Framework\DB for any errors when the task runs.

                      Hi Rich,

                       

                      This folder is empty

                      C:\ProgramData\McAfee\Common Framework


                      No folders and files inside Common Framework, Could you suggest how to fix this, please?

                        This would indicate you have an agent issue rather than an update issue.

                         

                        Is the McAfee Agent installed?

                          Yes! McAfee installed and communicating with ePO without any issue.

                           

                          Reinstalling an Agent will solve this issue?
