License distinction between Viruscan Enterprise on Windows desktop and server?

    singchung

I have a McAfee EndPoint Protection - Advance Suite, 500 nodes.

Among the nodes, we have about 350 running on Windows desktop OS (XP, 7) and the rest on Windows server (2008 R2, 2012 R2).

My vendor is saying that I can only use this license I bought on desktop OS and I have to buy a server suite license for the server OS machines.

I now have conflicting answers from 2 persons representing McAfee, one said the vendor is right another said that for Viruscan Enterprise no license distinction between desktop or server OS but distinction only in other components such as HIPS, DLP and Solidcore.

Where can I get Intel official statement on the correct licensing entitlement?

Since this is as much a legal question, I would contact McAfee directly. What is correct in your location may not be correct in mine. So, a single Official statement may not be appropriate.

For what it's worth, for me, Viruscan Enterprise has no license distinction between desktop or server OS, but other products do have limits in other components such as HIPS, DLP and Solidcore.

Ultimately, McAfee/Intel Security will be the best source of info regarding licenses and support.

          Hope this helps,
