I don't have much experience with running EPO under a virtual server. However, I believe that the only version that supports a virtual environment is EPO 4.0. Also, EPO 3.5.5 is no longer supported by McAfee. By the end of Jan the only supported EPO versions will be 3.6.1 and 4.0.
Below is what is supports:
Supported virtual infrastructure software
• VMware ESX 3.0.x
• Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2
Yes, we have tested under VMware ESX 3.0.X and have successfull test!
No anormaly problems detected under demo.
Is anyone running ePO 4.0 in a VM environment? If so, how many clients and which McAfee products.
We're running ePO 4 just fine in a MS Virtual Server guest (Win2003 R2 SP2). I've allocated 2 GB of RAM and have about 900 clients. Doesn't seem too busy at all.
VirusScan, Virex, GroupShield are my primary client apps.
we're running ePO4 on a VMware server VM with 2GB RAM and about 2000 clients. Had no problems until now. We deploy VSE8.5, SCP, Antipsyware for VSE 8.5.
Before we had an ePO 3.6.1 in same VM enviroment with same product and clients for two years with no probs.
