In Consumer products the normal size of casper.etl around 16.9mb but AMCore files tell me that this may be Enterprise software.
Can you specify name and version of McAfee product please? Also were you in contact with Technical Support at any stage?
Also it's very unusual that you can read the content of that file as it isn't supposed to be readable by normal means.
It's garden variety McAfee Antivirus Plus consumer version. The text came from CasperVersionInfo.txt.
The last two files were much smaller:
casper001.etl 20.5 MB June 17, 2015
casper002.etl 38.5 MB July 24, 2015
I have not been in contact with Technical Support as it just became an issue last night and I was looking to see if this was a known issue of some kind.
Maybe I should go that route?
Thanks for replying!

OK. The only reason I doubted it was consumer software was the apparent size of that file but I see it is. Well I checked and .etl files are basically Event Viewer files and I'm wondering why they should be so vast. One reason would have been verbose log collection by support, which isn't the case, so another cause could I suppose be malware.
You might want to run GetSusp, Stinger and perhaps MalwareBytes Free on that machine - all listed in the last link below.
Failing any unusual discoveries that way, then I would suggest a complete clean up of the software.
Uninstall via Control Panel > Programs and Features
Reboot if asked to.
Then run the MCPR cleanup tool and reboot.
Then reinstall from your online account.

I forgot to add, you could delete that large log and at least 1 of the others.
You may need to first disable Access Protection
Open the software, go to Navigation, then General Settings and Alerts and open Access Protection - turn it off, until the job is done.
I'd like to add my 2 cents here. I just had a similar experience to Feldercarb's wife. I suddenly found I had a 600GB file in MCLOGS called Casper.etl. I also had three additional Casper files, much smaller dated June, July and August. I am running Live Safe that came with a Toshiba laptop I purchased in April. I heard good things about the product, and the price was right so I kept it, but I am not real happy with it right about now. I was able to delete the large file, but I cannot help wondering just what happened. it left me with about 500MB on my C: drive. I also run the paid version of Maleware bytes so I am certain there is no issues with malware or such. I'd like to know why it happened, what was the cause and how to prevent it from happening again. In lieu of that, I may be uninstalling and returning to Avast.
It's a mystery indeed. I will ask about it on our Monday conference call with McAfee staff and post back.
I'd appreciate that. It's a very strange problem to find you're suddenly out of disk space. I don't see much about it when I do a search either. It would be nice to get some more information on what's happening.
