The slowness is a reported bug and will be addressed soon I hope. I was one of the first to complain about it.
As far as services not running, well I don't know for sure which ones changed, if any, in the recent update cycle, but if you are really worried about it open a case with Technical Support.
The MVT results can vary depending on where your software comes from, McAfee direct or your ISP or PC maker, for instance.
