we tested this with a customer. For some time the endpoints have some kind of "lease time" for the SVA assignment. If the SVA Manager is not available for a shorter time this is no Problem.
After a longer timeframe your endpoints will disconnected from your OSS.
There is an Option to deploy the SVA appliance as a HA Cluster.
If the clients are already assigned an OSS, then it will talk to the same OSS till the OSS goes down.
In this scenario, is the SVA manager goes down -
- The new clients will have an OSS assigned.
- If the OSS goes down, the existing client will have problem getting new OSS.
Im not really looking at the HA set up but a failover to another SVA manager if the configured SVA manager goes down.
Is there any way of setting up a Promary and Secondary SVA Manager?
There is no concept of primary/secondary SVA but you can configure HA so that if one goes down, the other will take over.
Can the HA set up for the SVA have 2 SVA managers in 2 separate locations ?
SVA 1 - Data Center "A"
SVA 2 - Data Center "B"
Data Centers geographically in separate locations
It can be anywhere. The only thing which needs to taken care is both should be reachable and HA should be properly configured. You can use VMware HA to configure this.
You have refer VMware documentation for the same. This is basically DRS setup from VMware.
