    Testing DRP on EPO Server

I need to test my DRP plan for my McAfee EPO Server.

Can anyone tell me if the below is correct:

      - Reinstall EPO onto a new server - use the same name/ip/directories
      - Reinstall all packages that were on the old server
      - Restore the sql db from backup?

Anything else I should be doing or am missing?

Here is my DR proceedure for ePO. I have throughly tested ePO 3.5 DR and this proceedure works fine for my environment. I have recently upgraded to 3.6 but haven't tested the DR proceedure for it yet but have a plan ready for it. I hope this helps or atleast guides you in the right direction.

DR proceedure for ePO 3.5 (Tested)

          (1) Install the server & patch
          (2) Once the server is installed you need to stop the ePO server services:
          • McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.5.0 Server
          • McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.5.0 Event Parser
          • McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.5.0 Discovery & Notification services
          • McAfee Framework Service
          (3) After the services have stopped you will need to restore the SQL database.
          (4) Next you need to restore the following directories:
          • C:\Program Files\Network Associates\ePO\3.5.0\DB\Certificates
          • C:\Program Files\Network Associates\ePO\3.5.0\Tomcat\keystore
          (5) Now you can restart the services or reboot the server.
          (6) Check in managed applications, patches etc

DR proceedure for ePO 3.6 (NOT TESTED)

          (1) Install the server & patch
          (2) Once the server is installed you need to stop the ePO server services:
          • McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.6.0 Application Server
          • McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.6.0 Event Parser
          • McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.6.0 Server
          • McAfee Framework Service
          (3) After the services have stopped you will need to restore the SQL database.
          (4) Next you need to restore the following directories:
          • C:\Program Files\Network Associates\ePO\3.6.0\DB\Certificates
          • C:\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee\Tomcat\keystore
          (5) Now you can restart the services or reboot the server.
          (6) Check in managed applications, patches etc

Thanks - I forgot about the Certs and keystore. I guess without it the clients would think its a completely difference epo server?

If you get a certs mismatch then certain things will not work like RSD.

                Hi James

I read your DRP Plan. I have some questions regarding the same.

                1. How to take backup of

                • C:\Program Files\Network Associates\ePO\3.5.0\DB\Certificates
                • C:\Program Files\Network Associates\ePO\3.5.0\Tomcat\keystore

Is there is any special procedure or it is just copy and paste or any backup utility (for security permissions) like ntbackup.

                2. The new server name and EPO database name need to same or it can be different.

                Thanks
                DJ
