I moved this to Consumer > General as it's not really a security breach, rather a momentary lapse in the software. Probably during an update is a good example of when services stall momentarily.
It is on by default.
You SecurityCenter Help files will explain more fully but this is the first line:
You can use access protection for your most essential McAfee files, registries, and services by preventing you from accidentally deleting them.
It also protects against malware that attacks anti-virus software.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless it's repeated often. If that happens try some extra anti-malware tools from the last link below and/or run the Virtual Techncian to see if your software is OK: http://mvt.mcafee.com/
In the last resort Technical Support might be of use, it's free by phone or online chat.
