I amended the above post somewhat - it would still be useful to know all the details asked for.
I did some Googling on this and I think maybe you have inadvertently clicked a combo of keys that started up caret browsing.
I gleaned this from Microsoft forums:
Disabling caret browsing option might fix the issue. Caret browsing is a feature in Internet Explorer also called keyboard navigation, that puts movable cursor on the screen and you can navigate using the keyboard buttons. This feature sometimes reduces the mouse sensitivity.
To disable caret browsing.
- Press Windows key + letter ‘R.’
- Type the command inetcpl.cpl
- Go to the Advanced tab.
- Under Accessibility, uncheck the option “Enable caret browsing for new windows and tabs.”
- Click Apply and OK.
Check if it helps. If the issue still persists, use an alternate mouse and check if the problem persists.
Sorry if I posted in wrong area. I thought I might have had some sort of virus. I have run virus checks etc and all comes up fine. I will go and buy a new mouse as suggested. I do appreciate the time you take in answering my questions. You have always helped me in the past.
I will let you know how I go.
Thanks heaps again.
I wouldn't be thjat drastic - was it Caret Browsing?
