Are my files encrypted or spoiled?

A computer of my friend has been infected by some malware. It spoiled nearly all of the .doc, .docx ans .txt files on the hard disk. I formatted the system volume and reinstalled the OS (Win7 x64). All the spoiled files were on another volume. They are completely unreadable by MS Word now. Is it possible, that the virus had encrypted them and not only turned into rubbish? The files are numerous and important. If they are encrypted, is there any way to find a decryptor?

All the spoiled files have the .cphjcsh extension. The virus hadn't asked for anything and made no alerts. I attach the one of spoiled files. Can somebody give me advice? Thank you all.
