I assume this is the setup file you've saved from your online account? Is that system fully up to date, including, even if you never use it, Internet Explorer, and connected to the Internet?
Have you completely removed any other security software that was instal;led previously and used the removal tool that they should have on their website?
it is the setup file that I downloaded after logging into my account at MCAFEE.com I believe the system is fully up to date because it just expired yesterday and I do not have any other security software on the computer.
Should I remove the expired version?
Yes it probably will help. Uninstall in the normal manner via Control Panel, then run the MCPR cleanup tool, reboot and then run the setup.
