    Is HIPS supported on Mac?

    numin8r

      Hi all,

I have deployed HIPS for Windows and it works fine.  I went ahead and installed the agent on my Mac and I was ready to deploy HIPS but I'm getting a failed message in EPO.

Can someone please tell me if HIPS is supported in Mac?

      Thanks

No, HIPS only works on Windows, Linux & Solaris.

Thanks, so should I just run end point protection on my Mac?

Yeah, endpoint protection is basically virus protection for MAC, but doesn't have all the same features as VSE would.

                Ok, cool.

I deployed Endpoint Protection and it's currently has a pending status.  I'm assuming it's doing its thing.  I didn't mess around with the the policies and used the default ones.

Do I need to go on the terminal and restart services?

                  Thanks

So, HIPS isn't supported on Mac, but the Endpoint Protection product does have a Desktop Firewall module similar to the HIPS firewall.

I don't remember having to restart post-installation - though, I'd have to jump on my lab to test/review.

I see the McAfee Endpoint Protection Application but I'm having issues opening it.

I get the following error below:
