Are you trying to upgrade your OS & ePO or just ePO? If your just upgrading ePO, just go through the 5.1 installation guide which has a section for how to upgrade ePO.
Something that ought to influence your decision is the pending EOL for ePO 5.0.x at the end of this year. See:
ePO 5.1.x is the long-term supported version until 2016, and that would be your best choice.
I only want to upgrade the ePO to 5.0.1 (the required version to fix my specific problem).
The KB states "This issue is resolved in ePO 5.0.1, which is currently available from the McAfee downloads site" but I can not find it on the downloads site.
I can not find it in the software manager in the ePO as well. The only two updates I see there are Hot Fixes 188.8.131.520279-2 and 5.0.973112
(which do not seem to solve my problem, althogh the later is a later version than 5.0.1 but the list of resolved issues does not say anything about my problem)
I read the upgrade sections of both installalation guides for 5.0 and 5.1 but none was helpful and this is why I turned to you guys.
I can not upgrade to 5.1 because it requires a 64‑bit platform.
But doesn't ePO 5.0.x already require a 64-bit platform ?
ePO 5.0.x is still available for download (under ePO 5.0.0). if you can't see it then you will need to talk to McAfee customer services to have that resolved for your grant number.
If you can't find 5.0.1 in your software manager or on the McAfee Portal, I would call a McAfee rep and provide your grant number, and they will be able to provide you with the download.
I don't know. There is no mention of such a requirement in the release notes. How can I find out?
If this is true(5.0.1 requires 64bit) then maybe it is normal that I don't see the patch in the software manager.
If not then I will contact the support team.
It's in the 5.0.0 installation guide pdf file. (page 9).
The 5.0.0 guide covers all 5.0.x variants.
