I altered the word moderator to Administrator as I think that is what you meant.
What version of SecurityCenter is this please? Open it and click "About".
Also what operating system and service pack is this and are there Parental Controls installed?
I forgot to ask, please also indicate what version of Internet Explorer is installed, even if you don't use it.
Yes ofcourse, thank you
The version is 12.8 (build 12.8.903)
I'm running Windows 7 SP1
No parental controls installed
IE version 11.0.9600.17239
Thanks, that is odd. Even though the software would object to being turned off it's easy enough. Open it and click Virus and Spyware Protection, then Real Time Scanning and then Turn Off - is that Turn Off button there at all?
Try running the Virtual Technician to see if it finds and fixes it: http://mvt.mcafee.com/
If not, then try this:
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall all McAfee.
Then run the MCPR cleanup tool and reboot immediately it tells you to.
Then go to your online account and reinstall from there.
The last resort is free Technical Support and it's available by phone or online chat and linked below.

Thank you, the problem is that after I click Virus and Spyware Protection, I can't click on Real Time Scanning. I can click the other 2, but i have no interest in those.
OK the above should cure that. But just in case.....
You might also want to check for malware and you could try AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes Free, see the last link above and scroll down to 3rd Party Tools.
Ran the virtual technician and it seems that the McAfee program was not working, apparently my Real Time Scanning was off, and when it was fixed with the VT it detected 4 viruses and 2 trojans so I can only assume it has not been working for quite a while...
Edit: the McAfee problem works without a problem now it seems
Oh dear, that's not too good is it? I would run a scan with those tools anyway.
At least the main issue is solved.
did u uninstall mcafee and reinstall it after? i have the same problem where it was never working. And i just wanted to know exactly what you did.
