Hi Ex Brit, I'm on Vista (firefox and windows explorer and am using McAfee Security Center total protection, version 13.6 if that helps?
OK I moved this to SecurityCentre for clarity. As McAfee relies on Internet Explorer for its functionality, please make sure you are using Vista SP2 (right-click Computer on your desktop or in the Start Menu and select Properties, it will tell you that info there) and then open IE (you don't need to have it as your default browser) and go Help/About and tell me the version. If it's not IE9 you need to update it.
Try running the Virtual Technician to see if it will find and fix any errors http://mvt.mcafee.com/
Report back please what changes if anything.
P.S. That's Internet Explorer not Windows Explorer.

Ok, I have Vista file version 220.127.116.11 and am using IE9. I haven't tried the Virtual Technician yet. Is that compatible for my PC?

OK try running the Virtual Technician to see if it finds and fixes problems automatically: http://mvt.mcafee.com/
If not try the following:
Uninstall all McAfee via Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program
Run the MCPR cleanup tool and reboot
Go to your online account page and reinstall from there.
Not sure if you've been running any registry cleaners but they often a cause of strange errors like this, so stop if you have.

I'll try that, but first I have to say that since I posted my second post on here, I haven't gotten a pop up... at ALL. I have been getting them for a week now all the time (50? a day), and now when I am finding help, it ISN'T happening ?? A weird coincidence, or what?
