when you reboot, are you authenticating to the pre-boot with a user and password etc?
Yes. I'm using my AD username/pw credentials that were discovered on the PC during the activation/encryption process
need some more info on the system - what's the OS version, and what version of TPM does it have?
I'm running Win7sp1 with TPM 1.2. DE 7.1 Patch 1 (22.214.171.1244)
hum - I thought I read somewhere that TPM autoboot in v7.1.0 was only supported on Win8 UEFI - https://community.mcafee.com/docs/DOC-5520
The release notes for 7.1.1 also specifically mention UEFI for TPM 1.2
so I think your hardware is just not compatible. Sorry.
Bitlocker uses its own pre-boot environment to measure the TPM metrics, I'm not sure it's possible for a third party to do the same, as bitlocker is built into the OS itself - to do it from "outside" the os requires a UEFI implementation.
Good to know. It would be nice if the log message said something a little more informative. "hardware is unsupported" would have pointed me in the right direction.
Luckily we are looking at using the autoboot feature on win8 devices. I'm doing some initial evaulation. Product seems great so far. Maybe there will be some windows 7 support in the future for TPM.
