How to Port Forward the DVR on McAfee Firewall

    superservecorp

      Hi All,

I'm new to this forum so please bear with me. I just want to seek some help about the right settings and configurations with this topic.

Currently, we have these equipment and configuration:

      Modem/Router (provided by our ISP)

          IP Address: 192.168.128.254

           Virtual Server Configuration

                Service Name: WEB

               Protocal: TCP

                Local IP Address: 192.168.128.253

Local and WAN Ports: 80, 81 and 6036

               State: Enable

      DVR Settings

           IP Address: 192.168.1.250

Ports being used: 81(HTTP Port) and 6036(Server/Communication Port)

      McAfee Configuration

           Name: DVR Port Forward 81

           Applications: TCP/UDP

          Source:

                Endpoints: <Any>

                Zone: <Any>

           Destination:

                Endpoints: <Any>

                Zone: <Any>

           NAT: <localhost> (Host)

           Redirect: DVR IP - 192.168.1.250

          Redirect Port: 81

           Name: DVR Port Forward 6036

           Applications: TCP/UDP

          Source:

                Endpoints: <Any>

                Zone: <Any>

           Destination:

                Endpoints: <Any>

                Zone: <Any>

           NAT: <localhost> (Host)

           Redirect: DVR IP - 192.168.1.250

          Redirect Port: 81

There is no problem viewing it locally on its IP, 192.168.1.250:81.

But when I try to view it online by the IP 192.168.128.253 or even with our static IP, it says "Connect Failed!".

I also tried viewing the DVR with other ISPs and it also prompts that error.

Upon checking the manual of the DVR, if the server port of the DVR is blocked, the DVR will load the login sceen but always say "Connect Failed!".

I just want to ask what is the problem with my current settings for me not to be able to view the DVR online.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

      Thank you!

To access the box from outside the firewall you need to use your public IP address of the modem as your destination.  None of those IP addresses are the public IP which is assigned to your router.

In the second rule, you most likely do not want to change the Redirect Port to 81 from the original 6036.  If you are trying to connect to the DVR on port 6036 that rule will always change the port to 81 instead.

Thanks for your reply sliedl. Appreciated it.

Okay, so as to what is stated above, even if I try to view it via our Public IP Address, it will also say "Connect Failed!".

Oopps, Originally, the second rule redirect port is 6036, that was just a typograhical error and I'm sorry for that.

                  Name: DVR Port Forward 6036

                 Applications: TCP/UDP

                Source:

                      Endpoints: <Any>

                      Zone: <Any>

                 Destination:

                      Endpoints: <Any>

                      Zone: <Any>

                 NAT: <localhost> (Host)

                 Redirect: DVR IP - 192.168.1.250

                Redirect Port: 6036

You'll have to do troubleshooting using tcpdumps and audits now to determine where the connection is failing.  The rules look correct.
