If you have AVG installed but not running then it still might interfere with McAfee. Having both running at the same time would mean they clashed all the time, so you do need to uninstall AVG fully if you don't want it.
- What operating system have you got?
- What McAfee product have you got?
- What have you tried so far to uninstall AVG?
If, despite your efforts, you haven't been able to get rid of AVG, you need to run a special AVG utility to force removal. That utility is "AVG Remover" and you can get it from http://www.avg.com/gb-en/utilities. I take it that's the program you were referring to. Yes, go ahead and download and run it.
Thanks for the reply. I have Windows 7; mcafee total protection version 12.8; and i've tried to uninstall via the control panel/uninstall. Wasn't sure if I downloaded that remove tool from AVG if it would take over further than it already has. I will try this tool. thanks so much!
