    Checkpoint Endpoint Security with VSE 8.8 P4 DAT not up-to-date

      Hello everyone,

       

      we have a problem with  the Checkpoint Endpoint Security and VSE 8.8 Patch 4.

      When we install or update the VSE to the recent DAT the date of the DAT will not be updated in the information window of VSE.

      Also the Checkpoint Endpoint Security blocks the network traffic because it says that the DAT is not up-to-date.

       

      The DAT Version will be updated in the information windows of VSE, only the Date is not right.

      In the registry the DAT version and DAT dat is correct.

       

      Does this problem occure anyone else or do somebody have an idea?

      Where does the information windows from the VSE get his information?

       

      OS: Win 7 Prof x64

          A commonality we've seen with these reports is, folks do not have the Windows Security Center service running.

          Start it, and that may enable the product to correctly populate the DAT date value.

            Thanks!

            It seems that Checkpoint get his information about the date of the date from the Windows Security Center Service.

            No problems here anymore.

              Hello wwarren,

               

              we have the same/similar issue, preventing us from updating the whole company to VSE 8.8 P4.

              The Checkpoint Endpoint Security detects only the correct status of McAfee, if a user is logged in.

              If the user loggs of, the client computer goes into restricted/observe mode after 2minutes in Checkpoint Endpoint security management. Checkpoint Endpoint security says, that Mcafee is not running at this client computer! After log in again the status switches to complient again and everything is ok.

              We have W7 x86 and the security center with the Windows Security Center service is running.

              Before updating to 8.8 P4 we had VSE 8.7 P4 running and everything was fine. Something must be different in 8.8 P4 ...

              Any hints/help?

                Hi akalide,

                 

                Unfortunately we do not know how the Checkpoint Endpoint Security software works.

                If you can tell us what it is looking for to determine the status of our software and other data points it is evaluating, then we can advise you of what needs tweaking in our software to make Checkpoint happy.

                 

                There are a lot of somethings different in 8.8 P4. So many that it precludes it as being a viable troubleshooting method to answer the question "What's different?". It's also more sensible to begin troubleshooting with the program that is producing undesirable results, and discover the reason for those results - I mean the actual reason, not a circumstantial one.
