Usually it is right click the Mcafee shield and choose verify subscription.
If not there the install might be compromised so scan with the scanners mentioned here
If they find anything you may need to reinstall Mcafee as per
Try the below steps to see if your Subscription is Upto date.
> Open McAfee User Interface > click on Subscription tile > See if the Expiry date is correct as per your Term of renewal (Eg. 1 year)
If it is not updated and shows the old Expiry then try the below step.
>Check to see McAfee's M shield icon on the System tray. > Right click the icon and select Verify Subscription > Wait for the confirmation pop-up and see if Correct expiry date is displayed.
