I was reviewing the Application Control documentation and there is a use case for the installation of Adobe Reader updates. It mentions that users defined as trusted installers can install applications and updates defined in policy. Does a user require local administrator rights on an endpoint to install software if they are a trusted installer?
We are researcing solutions to allow our end users to install specific updates and/or programs: Adobe Flash, Java, etc.
Application Control does not change Application behaviour once it has been allowed to execute. In other words, if the application installer requirements expect admin privileges then the process/End User launching the installer will need to comply.
