Enable Solid Core - Client Task is In Progress for more than 12 Hours

    jprakasheie

      Hi all,

We have installed Solid Core 6.0.0 extension package successfully by ePO 4.6 console.

Licensed Integrity control for solidcore as per the procedure.

      Installation proceure says

      1. need to enable solidcore by "Client tasks". So we have created the client task and clicked "Run Task Now"

      2. After running client task for the particualr client station should show the solidcore information on the product tab of the ePO console.

But we didn't have any information regarding the solidifcation for that client.

So we verified  the "Server Task Log" , shows "In progess " for the "Run Task For: Enable Solidcore on Client Station".

we have waited for more than 12 hours, but still this task is showing as "In progress"

Any body faced this kind of problem before??

I will breif out the steps again.

          1. Install extension and enter IC License in server settings page of epO.

          2. Check in Solidcore client packgae in master repository. Deploy Solidcore at end point from product deployment client task.

          3. After above client task is success, check system properties on ePO. It should display Solidcore in Disabled state.

          4. Then initaite enable client task . Please let us know what options you are choosing here. An example -> Enable both CC and AC, keep initial scan priority normal, select limited featute activation and enable pull inventory checkbox.

After 10 minutes, send wake up agent at end point. Check system properties page on ePO page -> It should list number of files scanned/ solidified when solidification is going on at end point.

The client task will be over when the solidification is completed at end point and the end point is in enabled mode.

In addition to what Amit Suggested.

SC:Enable task takes time depending upon the disk size used on the machine. in SC:Enable task we create whitelist based on the files present on the disk. If the number of files is large then it can take some time to complete.

In order to check how solidification is progressing click on System Name in system Tree this will navigate you to System Details page.

Click On Products>Solidcore>  Check  Solidification Status

              Hi Rakesh,

              Thanks for your reply.

We are not getting SolidCore on products.

On Products > we are getting the following products only

              1. Agent

              2.Product Coverage Reports

              3. Virus Scan Enterprise

              4. Rogue System Detection

Have you followed the step 2 as mentioned above.

Check in Solidcore client package in master repository. Deploy Solidcore at end point from product deployment client task.

So that means product is not installed on endpoint. Please Follow Step 2 as told by Amit.

                    Hi Amit,

After the product deployment of solidcore and enable client task, we are getting solidcore details on "Products>Solidcore> "

Now the solidification status shows as "Solidifying" , when it will change as solidified.

Solid Core Client Task Log shows "Completed"  as Task status for Enable Solidcore task

but, Server task shows "failed" as task status for enable solidcore task.

Log messages from Server Task Log:

Started: Sent Run now task "Enable SolidCore on Client Station"

Run now task Enable Solidcore on client station received

Run now task Enable Solidcore on client station started

Run now task Enable Solidcore on client station is stopped by the scheduler

Note: There are no other server tasks has been scheduled

If that's the case then do ASCI and again check the status under:

Click On Products>Solidcore>  Check  Solidification Status

If its not showing solidified then open a service request to investigate. By the way whats the size of disk used on the machine where sc:enable task was sent.

                        Hi,

Just for clarification, You said that " Now the solidification status shows as "Solidifying" , when it will change as solidified. Solid Core Client Task Log shows "Completed"  as Task status for Enable Solidcore task"

So does the Solidification started on the client system? Is that you mean? If so then no worries the solidification will take little bit longer time depending on the system resources and files. It could take somewhere between 2 to 6 hours to complete solidification. You can monitor this even by going to the respective client PC, Right click the agent -> Quick settings -> Application Control Solidification Status.  If this step is completed then. Just do some collect and send props, Send events. afterwards the status should be updated in the Console. Thanks

                        Regards,

                        Humaid

                          Hi,

When you run Enable SolidCore client task, normally the solidification starts after reboot (300 sec).

Solidcore takes about 1:30 mins to 2:15 mins to solidify a base Windows 7 system which dual core CPU and 2 GB RAM

Go to C:\programdata\mcafee\solidcore\logs\solidcore, open with wordpad and check for specific log "Command 'sadmin ssreboot -m %Enable% -t 300' returned 0: No error"

The above log tells if you the system has received reboot command from solidcore after reboot check for "Command 'sadmin so -m' returned 0: No error" which tells you the if the system has completed solidification and its time.

The time difference between the reboot and "sadmin so -m" will tell you how long the system took to solidify.

Let me know if this is helpful.
