We are using a hosted compliance & documentation application. The problem occurs when we enable the proxy server (Web Gateway 7) within IE.
What SHOULD happen:
We log into the application, click on the 'Read Document' button, a new window opens & the document downloads.
What IS happening:
We log into the application, click on the 'Read Document' button, a new window opens but the document fails to download with the error of:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
What you can try:
This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:
•Internet connectivity has been lost.
•The website is temporarily unavailable.
•The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
•The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
•There might be a typing error in the address.
•If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.
HOWEVER, if we click on the 'View' LINK (not button) it will then display the document within the window.
The strange thing is that the 2 addresses - via the button and via the link - are SPOT ON, EXACTLY THE SAME. We can't figure out why the Web Gateway is allowing access to the document via the hard coded link but not via the button.
My boss & I have been hammering away at the MWG - making one change at a time & retrying - but we can't get it to pass thru when using the button.
ANY tips, tricks or insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
I would compare the request response using Wireshark or Connection Traces (Configuration > troubleshooting > enable connection tracing > restrict to one IP // output is found under troubleshooting > connection traces).
