Purge Inactive Assets

In reading over older discussion, McAfee does not auto delete the inactive assets, which is fine.  Is there a way that we can do that ourselves? I would rather not have assets sitting in the DB for years on end if they are no longer on my network. It seems like manually deleting each one from the asset management screen is not the best option either. We are unable to sort by the asset status column, which make it even harder.
