    Better surf not being blocked

    greg28818

Has anyone seen the add-on for browsers called Better surf?  How is it not blocked by Mcaffee?  I have had 2 people call me to get rid of this and they both have Mcafee installed.

It's what called a PUP or Possibly Unwanted Program and as such isn't a virus although many think of it as such.

          There's a good removal guide here:  http://malwaretips.com/blogs/bettersurf-virus-removal/

If you think that perhaps McAfee should detect it, submit it to the labs:  http://www.mcafee.com/us/threat-center/resources/how-to-submit-sample.aspx you will see GetSusp mentioned there, thyat's a McAfee tool that gathers suspect software from any machine and submits it for analysis.

          .

Really? We have to submit the virus sample while Norton has already updated their virus dats to block this program.?

What's wrong with this picture? Seems like McAfee has a cavilier attitude about Better Surf. Has anyone that works for McAfee even bothered to search for this on the net? Alot of people, including myself, had the Bettersurf problem and McAfee does nothing to remove it.

It's already flagged as a PUP.  Don't you think that maybe Norton had to have samples submitted in order to reach their conclusions?  The system is mostly automated and relies on people like you submitting samples to augment it..

Not me it doesn't, but the labs it might.  I'm only the unpaid help here.

                    Hi rslamon,

From post # 4 am able to see two AV toolbars installed. Were these toolbars installed by you..?

If you have too many Popup blockers installed then they will conflict each other and result in instability of the Browser..!

                    Regards
