We have one weird issue in windows 7 client machine. I tried to open one file through google chrome but suddenly all desktop icons are changed into google chrome icon. We are using VSE 8.8 and also we scanned for virus for all local drives manually. But its not detecting any virus, Please find the below screenshot and Kindly suggest on this.
It could be simply that the Windows icon cache got messed up. Does a reboot fix anything? If you google for how to clear or force the icon cache to refresh itself, it may clear up the issue.
We have tried all those google stuffs but it's not fixing the issue. Is there any other way to fix this issue. Please confirm that it is a virus or not. Because its not detecting in AV scan.
Try uninstalling Chrome and restarting. According to Google Groups, this is an old issue. Best seek support there perhaps.
Here's one old thread but I recommend starting a new one: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/bCYx79H1uFo
I doubt it's infection but something in the registry has gone awry with Chrome.

Above link was helpful but it's not fixing the issue, We don't find any files in that specific directory. Kindly suggest the permanent solution. Why AV is not detecting this infection ?
It may not be an infection, although I think it's a distinct possibility. Have you, for instance, been running registry cleaners lately? They do this sort of thing.
Plus from searching the issue on the web I see it's been around for quite a while.
You could try posting a Hijackthis log on one of the specialist forums as instructed lower down the last link in my signature below for some expert advice.
That should find out if an infection is involved.

An infection doesn't strike me as the culprit here. Likely your icon cache is corrupted.
