I am on
McAfee SecurityCenter Communication version 6.0.0
My laptop has the following....
Windows 7 SP1
115 Gigabyte of files on hard drive
8 Gig of memory
64 bit windows 7 SP 1
2.5 GHz CPU
A full scan has been running for 46 hours!!!!
There is no windows.olf file. The laptop has always been Windows7.
There is no option to use minimal resources.
In task manager the CPU is only at 24%
There is no such version in the home products. Are you sure you aren't running SaaS (Total Protection Service) ? If so I will move the thread to that section in Business where you will get better support.
I moved this to its own thread as that other one was so old that the parameters have all changed even though the symptoms may not have.
I'm convinced it's the compacted files that slow full scans down. I don't do the full scan, that is why they have a dismiss button.
If your cpu is only 24% busy I wouldn't want to use minimal resources. You could probably use the computer while scanning too.
Peter offline so I will move it to correct forum
Please let us know if the scan was in progress when you checked it lastly or was it stuck at somewhere?
Finished after 57 hours and 11 minutes.
We would suggest you to remove the temp files, cookies and then reproduce the issue.
And I would suggest you extract all compressed files and try scanning again.
Since I am a consultant that does software installs I have 1,080*.zip files and 8,576 *.jar files. I am required by my new customer to do a full scan before they will let myworkstation on their network. Deleting~7,500 compressed files each time a new customer wants a full system scan it not reasonable.
