    VSE 8.8 access protection 32bit

    spongetron

In the access protection rules of VSE 8.8 there are alot of exclusions from McAfee itself:

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\McAfee\SystemCore\mcshield.exe

      C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\VirusScan Enterprise\mcadmin.exe

      C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\VirusScan Enterprise\mcconsol.exe

      C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\VirusScan Enterprise\mcupdate.exe

      and so on....

These exclusions are only for 64bit systems (because "C:\Program Files (x86)\". Do I have to edit all the Exclusions that they work on 32bit systems (change "C:\Program Files (x86)\" to "C:\Program Files\"?

      Thanks for your help.

          I don't think it's necessary.

I suspect that the majority of access protection between the core installed products is handled internally by the McAfee processes themselves (with signed processes and certificates). An example would be how the VSE installer can stop the Framework Service during an install/upgrade.

These additional exclusions could be specifically for 64bit systems where the core files are all 64bit therefore and a 32bit process run on 64bit could be classed as outside of the core.  Therefore the exclusion would be required. (THIS IS JUST A THEORY)
