Multiple A records for a single Domain name ?

    Arshad

I have created a split DNS on firewall (Unbound and Internet ) . Currently one of my Master zone content is having a single A record for one subdomain. How is it possible for adding more than one A Records against single domain name if I have 2 servers with different IPs and same domain name ? Kinldy help

The DNS GUI will not let you create two A records with the same name.

But, even though there is no notion of case sensitivity with DNS hostnames, you can actually get around the restriction in the GUI by creating the A records as:-

          server1

          Server1

          or

          server1

          serVer1

or if you needed to create 3 A records:-

          server1

          Server1

          seRver1

Any subtle change in case is enough to fool the validation check in the GUI. When the entries have been saved they will all resolve as "server1" giving you the round-robin resolution I assume you are trying to achieve.

          Hope that helps.
