I have been set as ad administrator for our Mcafee Web & Email Protection Suite.
The first task was to amend the usage of Skype so that all user interation (logins, chats, file transfers) all go through the web portal.
However, upon looking through the portal at "Web Protection > Policies > Developer Policy > Applications", but I cannot find Skype listed.
Is there a way of adding applications to an existing policy?
I have also tried creating a new policy but again, could not find where to add applications to the list already there.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!
I mainly work on the Web Gateway product (for which web saas is based) and Skype uses a bit of a modified SSL tunnel to do what it needs. As a result this traffic is not able to be scanned properly, any attempt to do so, the connection shuts down.
This is why you do not see Skype listed as an application control. Perhaps something will come in the future to add something to control it.
