You don't need to do anything on the product as far as loading a 'license'. We removed licensing back in 6.0 for everything except for NAC.
The renewal allows you access to technical support.
An active support agreement (the renewal you referenced above) allows you to contact support on the phone or through the service portal should you need assistance. It will also allow you to have your equipment serviced should the need arise.
hello gfergus1 ,, thank you very much for the support ,,
please if you can help me about the update version of mcafee ips manager what is ti ??
and when i reviewed the ips data sheet i just found three sensor model (appliaances ) what about the old aplliancese ??
I'm not clear on what your question is. The current version of the manager is 22.214.171.124.
Here's a KB that lists all the current versions: http://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB55448
The licensing requirements were removed about 3+ years ago at 126.96.36.199.
it looks like you deleted your clarifcation that you were asking about the M series data sheets and that you only saw the NS version.
The new NS models was recently launched, but the M series continues to be supported. Here's the link to the product life cycle that lists dates for each appliance: http://www.mcafee.com/us/support/support-eol-appliances.aspx#appl_nip
hello gfergus 1 , i need your assist and help about NG-IPS ,,
1- I am looking to prepare a clear comparison between McAfee regular IPS and the NG-IPS ,if you can guide me to a specific link or article show that difference.
2- regards upgraded ips ( appliance and manager ) softwares , in fail over case what the main steps i can follow to complete the upgrade .
I'm not clear what you are referring to for the comparision.
There is a section within each version upgrade guide that discusses MDRs with regards to upgrading.
Here's a link to the 7.5 version: http://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=PD24257
