MVM 2100 and 3100

Hi

please can you explain the difference between the MVM 3100 & 2100.

if we don't want to buy the appliance can we buy only the McAfee Vulnerability Manager Software and install it on a VM, and please confirm if it runs on VM with full functionality.

thanks

    Hi Maherr,

The 2100 can be used only as a ScanEngine/ScanController.  Whereas the MVM3100 can host all the other components.  Theres a difference in price as well.  Have you asked your sales person?

    Hi Maherr,

Yes, you can get about the same functionality on a VMware ESX.  There are some limitations due to the nature of VM - like resources.  But other than that I know of many customers having great luck with using it in such a deployment.

We have a Virtualization Guide that explains how to deploy MVM in a VM Environment.  All the documentation is available on the McAfee download server with your Grant #.  That only helps if you've already purchased it though, so if you're considering purchase, I'm sure the sales team can provide you with the documentation to help with your decision.

    Have a great day!
    Cathy
